Dr. Mark Hofer
Independent Education Counselor
Mark Hofer is a certified educational planner and the founder of Your College Matters in Seattle. Mark was the senior advisor for education and technology at the Bezos Family Foundation in Seattle for eight years where he still teaches leadership and is the college counselor for the Bezos Scholars Program. He received his doctorate in Education and a Master’s degree in Teaching from Seattle University. With additional degrees in the sciences, Mark has worked in psychology, physiology, biology and aerospace engineering research labs and taught high school science and psychology. Previously, Dr. Hofer worked in the development and testing of engines and vehicle technologies at Blue Origin – and directed the company’s internship and co-op programs for thirteen years. In addition, he has worked as a therapist with professional athletes in the Northwest including the Seahawks, Mariners, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet for over twenty-five years and is found blowing glass in his studio and pretending to be fluent in Italian. Mark has raced bicycles at all levels over the last thirty-five years and still enjoys racing with his wife, Heather, who is a two-time world champion duathlete. Mark loves learning stuff and helping teens be more successful than they can possibly imagine.
